Address mapping involves mapping email addresses to each other. This can useful if; you want to hide an email address from a recipient, your DNS is not globally resolvable so you need to redirect to one that is, or if you want to rewrite an email address.

To view and configure a address map list:

  1. Log in to FortiMail.
  2. Expand the User pane.
  3. Click Address Map.

  1. Click New..., or double-click one of the listed address mappings to modify the address map.
  2. In the Internal email address fields, enter the local part of the email address that you would like to hide (the part before '@'), and then select a protected domain from the dropdown list.
  3. In the External email address fields, enter the local part of the email address that you would like to the internal email address to be mapped to (the part before '@'), and then select a protected domain from the dropdown list.
  4. If this is a new email address map, click Create. If this is an existing email address map, click OK to update.
