NOTE: If you setup a VPN connection for your virtual network you can log in remotely using a Remote Desktop Connection tool on your PC, you do not need to log into the Service Management Portal.
Add a NAT rule to your network to enable RDP
NOTE: If you would like to connect to a virtual machine using the Service Management Portal’s desktop connect option, you will need to add a NAT rule to your virtual network. Please ensure your NAT rule has by setup properly by following the steps on the Add a rule in Hyper V page.
After you’ve added the NAT rule to your virtual network, you can continue to step 1 below:
- Click VIRTUAL MACHINES.
- Select the name of the virtual machine that you would like to connect to.
- Click CONNECT.
- Select Desktop.
- Select the network you would like to connect to from the IP ADDRESS(ES) dropdown list.
- Click the checkmark.
The RDP file will be downloaded to your computer.
- Open the RDP file.
- Click Connect.
- Type the credentials for the virtual machine and then click OK.
- Click Yes to verify the identity of the virtual machine.
Your virtual machine should now boot up.
If you encounter issues connecting by connecting by RDP
Try the following if you have issues connecting by RDP:
- Use the following username format in your Remote Desktop Connection application: /VIRTUAL_MACHINE_NAME/Administrator
- Please ensure your NAT rule has by setup properly by following the steps on the Add a rule in Hyper V page.
- Access your virtual network dashboard to double-check your IPs:
