How to run a VM

Your guide to pathway services

Before a VM (virtual machine) can be used, it first needs to be powered on (turned on). After your VM has been powered on, you are also able to suspend, shut down the guest OS, power off, and reset the VM.


To power on a VM:


  1. Log in to Cloudpath.
  2. Click on the My Cloud tab.
  3. In the left pane, locate the My Cloud section.
  4. Click VMs.
  5. Select a VM, and then right-click your selection.
  6. Click Power On.

To suspend a VM:


  1. Log in to Cloudpath.
  2. Click on the My Cloud tab.
  3. In the left pane, locate the My Cloud section.
  4. Click VMs.
  5. Select a VM, and then right-click your selection.
  6. Click Suspend.
  7. In the Suspend Virtual Machine pop-up window, click Yes.

To shut down a guest OS:


  1. Log in to Cloudpath.
  2. Click on the My Cloud tab.
  3. In the left pane, locate the My Cloud section.
  4. Click VMs.
  5. Select a VM, and then right-click your selection.
  6. Click Shut Down Guest OS.
  7. In the Confirm Power Off pop-up window, click Yes.

To power off a VM:


  1. Log in to Cloudpath.
  2. Click on the My Cloud tab.
  3. In the left pane, locate the My Cloud section.
  4. Click VMs.
  5. Select a VM, and then right-click your selection.
  6. Click Power Off.
  7. In the Confirm Power Off pop-up window, click Yes.

To reset a VM:


  1. Log in to Cloudpath.
  2. Click on the My Cloud tab.
  3. In the left pane, locate the My Cloud section.
  4. Click VMs.
  5. Select a VM, and then right-click your selection.
  6. Click Reset.
  7. In the Reset Virtual Machine pop-up window, click Yes.
