Type

Purpose

Records that are used to associate IP addresses with domain names.

CNAME

An alternative name for a domain name.

MX

Records that are used to associate mail IP addresses with mail domains.

NS

Name server resource records that identify servers that contain zone information files.

PTR

Pointer to a record.
